Lights Of Hope

Lights Of Hope By Blend Cota

Art Notes

Built during the time of the Great Depression, the Empire State Building has always been a symbol of hope. That hope was my inspiration for this new painting called “Lights of Hope”. The building is lit in teal to build awareness about the Alzheimer’s disease and convey hope to many people that are affected by it. My mother was one of those people, and as I look up at the teal ribbon lit on the building and all of the colors projected into the sky, I see this hope growing stronger.

Highlights

  • Within the Empire State Building, a Teal Awareness Ribbon is proudly portrayed, a symbol for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and their mission to make sure that no family living with Alzheimer’s disease would have to go the journey alone.
  • With her torch held high over Liberty Island, The Statue of Liberty stands as a quintessential American symbol. Over time, this symbol of French-American friendship took on a universal meaning, a symbol of hope.
